Additive Manufacturing
Volumetric 3D (bio)printing is a significant emerging technology that facilitates creating objects as entire entities; this has great potential to revolutionize the field of additive manufacturing. However, current volumetric methods cannot align microparticles/cells, which is necessary for applications in food, tissue, composite structures, electronics, and other areas. We overcame this hurdle for the first time in introducing SonoPrint, an acoustically assisted volumetric printer capable of producing composite geometries. Our printer integrates an external acoustic field and volumetric printing to enable the 3D fabrication of composite structures.
